On March 29, starting at 11am, the Smart ArM team will carry out the challenges at home, at the ISIR, on the Pierre and Marie Curie campus of Sorbonne University. Unlike the Cybathlon – Global Editon, this competition format is shorter: each participating team will only have to solve two selected tasks from their discipline of the Cybathlon 2024 races and rules. The events will be broadcast live on www.cybathlon.com.

About the team:

The SAM team is a research team mainly from ISIR, specializing in prostheses for transhumeral amputees, i.e. above the elbow. SAM wants to promote the possibilities offered by non-invasive approaches for the control of prostheses.

The team led by Nathanaël Jarrassé, CNRS Research, is composed of about 15 scientists from the field of robotics and neurosciences, the pilot, Christophe Huchet, who will take up the challenge using the prosthesis prototype developed by the team, supported by a group of specialized doctors.

About the technology:

SAM (Smart ArM) is an arm prosthesis dedicated to transhumeral amputees or people with agenesis (congenital absence) of the forearm. It provides patients with intuitive and effective control approaches, allowing them to extend their motor abilities and increase their autonomy for activities of daily living.

The SAM prosthesis is one of the only CYBATHLON prostheses with an active robotic elbow. The main challenge for the team is to be as fast as the others despite the use of a more complex system. This is why the team is working on the development of new innovative control modes.

Scientific contact: Nathanaël Jarrassé, CNRS Research at ISIR.

[254
post-9085","isir_news","type-isir_news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","isir_news_categories-event
["GET
