METAPTICS: AN INTRODUCTION TO HAPTIC INTERFACES AT THE « CITÉ DES SCIENCES ET DE L’INDUSTRIE » THIS SUMMER

Les vacances numériques” | Metaptics

Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 July from 2pm to 5pm, in the presence of the research team

Friday 21, Saturday 22 and Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 July, 2pm to 5pm

For everyone | Length of experiment: 15 min.

An interactive introduction to haptic interfaces, at the “Cité de Sciences et de l’Industrie” in Paris.

The project propose a tactile panel with multiple independent stimulation zones, combining haptics with the exceptional isolation capacities of acoustic metamaterials. Depending on the scenario of use set up, several studies could then be conducted. For example, the public may be asked to match stimuli to perceptual dimensions (soft, rough, etc). Knowing that the sense of touch is essential to communicate emotions, the answers will help to parameterize and adjust the tactile signals to correspond to a particular feeling or emotion. More generally, this exchange with the public will be an opportunity to bring to the research work carried out at ISIR a different, user-centered perspective, more in line with societal expectations.

« Les vacances numériques »

Throughout the year, the “Carrefour numérique” welcomes and supports project leaders as part of the Living Lab residencies and the call for innovative projects. “Les vacances numériques” event, from 8 to 29 July, will give you the chance to experience digital cultures through collaboration and learning!
