  • Bio: Ludovic Saint-Bauzel is an Associate Professor in Sorbonne University (Former Université Pierre et Marie Curie - UPMC).He is member of the AGATHE team in “Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robots” ISIR, AGATHE is the team specialized in medical robotics. The range of application of the team comes from robots for surgery to robots for helping elderly in standing up and walking. This last field is the main specialty of Ludovic Saint-Bauzel. His aim is to improve the physical human-robot interaction between the human and the robot, specially with person with some physical disabilities. He has mainly worked on devices designed to help in standing-up and in walking. This research is mainly done on smart walker devices (Monimad, Robuwalker, ISIR walker) but it has also been applied to few exoskeletons (AKROD and ITRI). During his work, he has demonstrated the ability to adapt the control of robot to provide the needed assistance in real condition with patients and elderly. This adaptation has mainly be done by developing computational model of the disabilities and working on the detection of the intention to do an action. This computational models can use depth cameras, force sensors, inertia measurment units, goniometers… to fuse them and predict the user intention. He is part of the director committee of of IFRH (federative institute for research on disabled), he is co-responsible of the technology for health axis. This federative institute gather more than 50 research teams that are researching on all the dimensions of disability (sociological, psychological, clinical research, technological research). He is an expert for FRQNT (Quebec Research Fund) and for FNRS (Belgium Research Fund). He is member of IEEE and member of the true life lab association (a association dedicated to elderly real life assessment). Research interests : Physical Human-Robot Interaction, Elderly, Smart-walker, Walking exoskeleton
