The international ORANGE THE WORLD campaign initiated by UN Women starts every year on 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) with ORANGE DAY, for 16 days of action against violence against women, until 10 December (International Human Rights Day).
Created in 1991, this worldwide movement has been wearing the colour orange since 2014. The Orange The World campaign aims to encourage all civil society actors to mobilise in awareness-raising actions, to create a space for discussion on the issues and solutions to violence, and to raise funds to end violence.
On the occasion of ORANGE DAY, commitment to combat violence against women and girls, ISIR and its members wore the colour orange!
Why orange? Because, according to the UN, the colour symbolises “a more just world”.
