ISIR PHD STUDENTS’ DAY: COMMITMENT AND AWARENESS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND GENDER EQUALITY

Category: Event

Yesterday, Monday 27 May, was the ISIR PhD Students’ Day. This event was an opportunity for ISIR’s young researchers to get together and take part in a series of participatory workshops focusing on two crucial themes: the environment and gender equality.

The day was punctuated by workshops dedicated to environmental issues. The Climate Fresco workshop, renowned for its fun and educational approach, gave participants a better understanding of the causal links between the various components of climate change. Another workshop, SEnS (Sciences Environment Societies), provided a framework for collective discussion on the consequences of research, raising awareness of the human and social sciences, and initiating collective work to build social and environmental responsibility into research.

The theme of gender equality was also addressed through various workshops. An interactive quiz raised participants’ awareness of gender inequalities. A workshop to raise awareness of gender-based and sexual violence in virtual reality (Reverto) offered a poignant immersion in situations of harassment, helping to understand and combat such violence. And board game workshops also tackled the theme of gender and gender equality, offering a fun and engaging way to discuss these issues.

The lunch was marked by a moment of conviviality, allowing members of the laboratory to get together and exchange ideas around the posters of the laboratory’s doctoral students, who had the opportunity to present their research work.

The importance of these issues cannot be underestimated. By tackling these issues in a participatory and interactive way, the day helped to raise collective awareness and promote active engagement among young researchers.
