VINCENT HAYWARD ELECTED NEW MEMBER OF THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

At the end of the open elections in 2019 and 2020, the Academy of Sciences elected 22 new members. A formal session was held in their honour under the dome of the Palace of the Institut of France on Tuesday 12 October 2021.

Vincent Hayward, professor at Sorbonne University and member of ISIR, was elected as a new member in the section of Mechanical and Computer Sciences and Inter-section of Applications of Science.

His pioneering work on understanding the sense of touch and “haptic” systems to reproduce tactile sensations is applied in many fields.
